iPUNKradio.com is an online station that plays current local punk of the San Francisco Bay Area
and Northern California.
Since we aren't exactly computer wizards, for now we're using a service (Live 365). It's totally free
to listen to -- you just need to sign up (you'll be prompted to do so eventually). If you want, you can
upgrade to "VIP" for dirt cheap, which will give you priority if too many people are listening at once,
and will also cut out commercials. We'd get a small fraction of that upgrade revenue, which would
help offset our costs. We don't get any revenue from commercials.
We chose "FM quality" broadcasting, so that people without high-speed internet can listen too. And
we actually like the gritty, old-fashioned radio sound -- it's punk, after all. VIP membership seems to
improve the quality somewhat, but if you want "CD quality," get the bands' CD's -- link to them from
our band links page.
Bay Area bands that would like to be on our playlist should send us a link to their web sites /
MySpace pages by clicking here -- no file attachments, please. Feel free to email suggestions,
complaints, etc. as well.
